This blog was started in response to the Sylvan Union School District's decision to moderate and censor posts to the district's "Fiscal Conversations" blog. When one side decides to do all the talking, it's no longer a conversation.
Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions here, free from moderation and censorship. Needless to say, it's completely o.k. to be "anonymous" here.

The Sylvan Conversations blog is open to being a conversation, as readers can post their comments. If no one chooses to, that's their fault.
ReplyDeletePeople are commenting but those comments are not being posted. In addition, "anonymous" commenting is not permitted on the so-called "conversation" site. It should be called "Sylvan Censorship Blog".
ReplyDeleteTHE PEOPLE IN THAT D.O. NEED A REALITY CHECK! THEY LOCK IN A FAT 10% RAISE A YEAR AGO AND THEN GIVE BACK 2.8? - HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT? BECAUSE NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING - PEOPLE WOULD RATHER PAY ATTENTION TO AMERICAN EFFING IDOL THAN THE OUTRIGHT THIEVERY GOING ON UNDER THEIR VERY NOSES.
ReplyDeleteI thought school positions were supposed to be open to all qualified individuals? How come everyone knows who the new H.R. person will be a year ahead of time? Is anyone else even going to apply?
ReplyDeleteIt only seems to be getting worse. I hear the superintendents secretary actually has some kind of management sway at the d.o. - does that answer the question regarding who someone has to bang to get ahead in sylvan? ahhpaulspeedchoo!
ReplyDeleteThey should sell the land that they are not going to build the new elementary school on. Put that money back in the general fund where it belongs instead of hiding off the balance sheet.
ReplyDeleteRumors are circulating out there that the last round of obsolete textbooks went straight to the dump / incinerator instead of being offered to the public or other needy districts as per ed. code.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on with our district? Has the DO completely lost touch with reality, do they know what it looks like when they hire people like there's no tomorrow and come up with bullshit programs like the energy conservation plan and putting on endless training programs that take teachers out of the classrooms when they're needed most and requiring $substitutes for each of the 20, 20 or 40 teachers at like $100 a day? PUT THE MONEY BACK IN THE CLASSROOMS!
ReplyDeleteOld news by now, but isn't this cozy?

Why are they moving custodians around again?
ReplyDeleteBE ACTIVE! Go to board meetings, read the fine print on the board agendas - ask questions, get the word out and don't roll over. These people will sneak things into our contracts that shouldn't be there. Go to your union meetings and hold your elected board accountable!
ReplyDelete"If it isn't in the contract, isn't against Ed. Code and/or isn't against the law it is a management right." Great how one innocent clause can erase the collective bargaining principle.
ReplyDeleteWAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSell the land!
ReplyDeleteSEEMS LIKE THE BIGWIGS DON'T MIND IDEAS AS LONG AS YOU DON'T DARE SUGGEST THEY TRIM THE FAT AT THE DISTRICT OFFICE.
ReplyDeleteWondering where everyone's favorite little-man dictator went? Lots of ideas out there. In TOTALLY unrelated news, a sexual harassment scandal rocks the district! More to come...
ReplyDeleteSo, Paul Speed tried to bang an accountant... The asshole was arrogant enough to seduce via email. Accountant gets fired during probationary period by Naomi (another Speed conquest) and a suit is filed. He should have quit at Michelle. ;)
ReplyDeletePaul Speed is now working at Merced City College. Lock up your daughters!
ReplyDeleteNow it's the Merced County Office of education...
